Crop and Soil Sciences is a diverse profession that encompasses all aspects of crop production and soil management. The goal of the crop scientist is to increase plant production, quality and profit by utilizing genetics, breeding and physiology. The goal of the soil scientist is to improve the soil fertility and the chemical, physical, and microbial characteristics of the soil. These two subjects are combined in Crop and Soil Sciences to develop an integrated approach to the management of crops and soils.
